The box represented all the ways we struggle against expectations that no longer fit who we are.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThen, while teaching together, Dr. Robert Jason Grant listened to me describe all the things I did with the box and asked a simple question:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e“Bianca, why don’t you burn the box?”\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe question stopped me in my tracks.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI had spent so much time thinking about how to fight the box, reshape the box, or distance myself from the box that it had never occurred to me that I was still carrying it with me.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThat moment became the inspiration for Burning the Box.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe figure stands tall, emerging from a burning box—not as an act of destruction, but as an act of transformation. The flames symbolize release, courage, empowerment, and the freedom that comes from no longer allowing expectations to define who you are.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat makes this miniature especially unique is the removable flame hidden inside the box. Beneath it is a small compartment designed to hold a tiny note. Write down an expectation, label, fear, limiting belief, or message you are ready to release.
